Psychotherapist, Supervisor, Tutor & Trainer, Group Facilitator, Consultant

Whilst the rest of this new website is being developed, this temporary homepage introduces you to my various work activities and the unique integration of psychological therapies which I offer to individuals, couples, therapeutic practitioners and helping professionals as well as organisations and groups.

Professional Background

Originally trained as a psychotherapist in the early 1980’s, I have practiced, supervised and taught in the counselling and psychotherapy field for more than four decades now. During that time I have worked with hundreds of people, from all walks of life, helping them transform their suffering and habitual patterns, supporting them in expanding their sense of self and identity and manifesting more of their unique potential.

By bringing my unique combination and integration of holistic and depth-psychological approaches to our therapeutic relationship, we are investing in and fostering a process of inner integration and an emerging sense of wholeness, which underpins a vital, joyful and fulfilling engagement in your inner and outer life. The purpose of this therapy is to help us live life as fully as we can, and to experience and manifest our interconnectedness with all aspects of our world in all our relationships.

Over the years, the bulk of my practice with individuals has been offering medium- to long-term therapy. Since the late 1990s I have also been offering couple therapy. Since 1986 I have been working as a supervisor and teacher of counselling and psychotherapy, which has brought me into close contact with a wide variety of therapists, affording me a deep and comprehensive view and understanding of the therapeutic field and its limitations, as well as what it has to offer, and how it is maturing and developing.

An approach to counselling, psychology and psychotherapy for the 21st century

Human subjective experience and human relationships are the heart of our individual, social and work lives, and we all need ways of understanding and doing justice to the depth and complexity of the human psyche. Psychology, counselling and psychotherapy are ‘young’ disciplines, and are evolving beyond their origins in the late 19th century. The fragmentation of these fields into a multitude of – often contradictory – approaches is widely recognised and rightly lamented. In their traditional form, these disciplines of the psychological and ‘talking therapies’ are very limited and only partially capable of addressing the psychological needs and realities of people in the 21st century.

Within the profession, through my work as a supervisor, tutor, trainer and teacher as well as through my writing, I have consistently worked towards taking the disciplines of psychology and psychotherapy beyond their outdated 19th and 20th century assumptions into the 21st century. Whether for individuals, couples, practitioners, groups or organisations, I endeavour to provide the best that these disciplines have to offer, by drawing from a wide range of approaches and integrating them into something that suits you and is effective in your circumstances.
